~Colour/Color 3/3
There is definitely color harmony in your design. My brain does not go into conflict as it is not too boring or too unorganized. Your choice of color really blends well together; however, the effect on the text makes it difficult to decode. It could be due to the added texture(s), so I didn't deduct points from this section.
~Font 2/3
I can barely read the author's name. It is as if you wanted it to be hidden or something. I like the fact that your name on the design is clearly visible is is thoughtfully placed. Many designers just place it wherever, as if they care less about the little details of the poster. Again, the text is a little hard to read. Have you considered about slightly darkening the text? If you don't want to choose a different colored font, you can always lighten, or darken the specific part of the background so that the text may stand out. For the main text, is there a total of three different fonts? Somehow, the “fallen...in the” goes really well with both the “teardrops” and “rain”, but the “teardrops” and the “rain” doesn't seem to match very well. Granted, they're both slanted, but something is just off. Perhaps it is the placement of the last word.
~Image Suitability 2.5/3
Both images, fonts, and/or textures are working very well with one another. Is it just me or is the person on the right larger? It just seems bigger because of the wide shoulder. It's something that cannot be avoided because it is due to the pose of the model. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the person on the right a female? If so, when you group a male and female together...generally, you will notice that a male would be bigger (i.e. a bigger head) In most cases....ONLY. I'm only pointing this out because they are grouped together into a “frame.” The proportion of images usually doesn't really matter in creative design, but since they are in the same frame/picture...it affects the overall look.
~Overall layout 2.5/3
You mention in the form that you worried about the overall layout. Is it the font or the picture? Like I have previously mentioned, the text could be placed elsewhere. The chunk of works in the middle left makes everything seems so tight and cramped. Maybe I'm just a little paranoid or something. The cramped title frustrates me when I read the text. Now the “frame” is perfectly placed. It has a good size. One thing I might point out is why in the world is the character on the right looking at his neck? Is she solely attracted to his chin? The point is that she is looking down, and he is staring at us. May I suggest flipping the frame or exchange their spots. Now they're both looking away. Sounds cheesy, I know. If you wanted to achieve the looking at him “LOOK,” the other character should have been moved up a bit so that she would be staring at his eyes instead of his chin/neckline.
Result: 10/12
Extra: Remember that I'm using my critic's eye. I basically try to point out everything that can be improved. You may or may not agree with me on some or most things. I understand. Everyone has their own personal design techniques, so we all tend to lean towards a certain style. One suggestion, when you are designing and is frustrated about the layout of your design, try saving one look that seems good and then give many others a try. If you have photoshop, instead of saving, you can either create a snapshot in a history pad that will undo everything that you do afterwards to achieve the same look, or you can Stamp/merge your layers, duplicate it, then work with newer layers afterward. By doing this, you will be able to compare different looks. It is time consuming, but if you take the extra step and compare all your works...it will also help you improve and define your style(if you haven't already done so). Another tip would be to save your work and walk away for a few hours, days, etc. because maybe you're just caught in the moment of frustration.
